Primary Purpose:

Our organization was created in 1921 to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and leaders in underserved communities. We seek to hire a professional grant writer to help our board of directors and management team secure funding for our 501(c)(3) for both operational and program expenses.

Programming and Dollar Needs:

We help individuals who have always wanted to fulfill their dreams to open a business or excel in upper management. Our intended programing covers leadership development, DEI workshops, solo-preneur programs, entertainers, small business initiatives, and more. We are mission-driven to uplift and develop equitable and inclusive opportunities for under-represented communities, the economic growth, and urban infrastructure enhancements for small and minority owned businesses.

Project Description:

Provide your hourly rate for research and locating grants for: 40 hours per week for 8 weeks. For a total of 320 hours.

This is a very broad estimate. We are seeking funding across an array of expenses - operational, programs already developed, and programs in development. We are unsure how the division, of the approximately 40 hours per week we assume is reasonable, of the grant writer's time works - other than that research should probably represent the least amount.

We have an agency mission statement: The mission of the West Hollywood Small Business Foundation is to serve as the philanthropic arm of the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to develop equitable and inclusive economic opportunities for small businesses including but not limited to those designated as minority, disadvantaged, women, veterans, LGBTQ, and BIPOC. Our bylaws state that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy of the WHSBF shall be a mandate and not aspirational as they believe broad representation is essential. This mandate covers the composition of the board as well as our business practices, such as the vendors and contractors used; they must reflect the underrepresented areas and communities the WHSBF serves.
