Grant Writer Request #03092019A

Primary Purpose:
We are looking for a grand writer that can help us find and manage grant applications for our projects in Tanzania. Main focus is medical support / hospital financing for our hospital. We have a US based 501c3 organization as of July 2019.
Programming and Dollar Needs:
Our organization is run by 2 Austrian doctors who where touched by the people of Northern Tanzania. The dire health care situation in this area prompted them to start a dispensary which has grown over the years into a leading health center and now into a hospital. Through the introduction of proper healthcare many more needs arose and the organization started developing projects in education and social services. Today, next to the hospital, there are 3 primary schools, a secondary school, vocational training centers and orphanage and many related projects. The transition into a charitable hospital meeting the needs of poor people requires additional funding which their traditional funding channels do not meet. Currently the organization is looking for structural support of about $1M USD annually.
Project Description:
Provide your hourly rate for research and locating grants for: 5 hours per week for 52 weeks.   For a total of 260 hours.
We are looking to come into contact with someone in the states that could help us manage and write these proposals and are flexible in time demand.

We would love to tell you a bit about the background of our organization.

In 2008, our founding doctor visited this area and was touched by the poverty, the lack of health infrastructure, education and so many of the most basic needs. She fell in love with the people and the place. The community asked her if she could help and with her background as a medical doctor, the idea was conceived to start a dispensary in Momella. From there the NGO was born.

As a medical doctor and natural healer, our second director always dreamed about opening a healing center, where school medicine and natural healing, can go hand in hand. She visited her mother during the opening of the dispensary. The natural energy of the place and the openness of the people made her stay. There was a lot of work to be done.

Working as doctors they realized that people needed more than just basic medical help and this led from one thing to another. The dispensary developed into a health and healing center. The access to good medical help was important, but we quickly realized that basic education was also lacking, so we built our primary schools! But how can we help those kids that have already managed to pass primary school to continue their education? With the help of the community and many of our visitors, we were able to start a whole variety of projects.
Today we focus on the following areas:
The health & healing center is developing into a full-blown hospital. We are now equipped with internal wards, a surgery unit, an eye clinic, a dentist, a laboratory, a mother-child with delivery ward, an ultrasound as well as an x-ray unit and a natural healing center. More than 25.000 people from all over Tanzania are being treated every year. Last year our center was rewarded with three stars and made our Health Center the highest score given nationwide. This would not have been possible without the collaboration of European and Tanzanian doctors, midwives and nurses who are striving & committed to giving the best possible service with the limited resources we have.
Over the years we started 3 English speaking primary schools in collaboration with the government of Tanzania. Public, English-speaking, primary schools are still unique in Tanzania. Two of the schools have Montessori based preschool classes. Approximately 900 children from the poorest families in the area attend our schools. The schools are getting some of the highest scores in the region and as such, setting new standards.
In January 2019 our secondary school opened its doors and will ultimately host 450 internal students. The school will use modern educational techniques and provide many extracurricular courses to prepare the children for current world life.
In our vocational training school, up to 80 students are trained in carpentry, bricklaying, mechanics, IT and tailoring.

Our orphanage offers a home to 41 local orphans. Loving care, nourishing meals, attending the local kindergarten as well as the English speaking schools support the children in their development and growth.

In the Maasai and Meru culture, woman and girls still have very limited development possibilities and are often married-off at a young age. Improving their position has been a key focus of ours. We help them by giving access to education, micro-credit loans and selling their handcrafted products in our facilities. With these resources, they can support their children with food and school fees. For families in acute need, we provide monthly food packages.

Safe drinking water is a major challenge for the local communities. Our water projects ensure the supply of fresh drinking water in Ngabobo and its surroundings. In order to provide food for our projects and educate the community and our school children on sustainable agriculture we started permaculture projects. Each school has its own vegetable garden and our Moringa plantation is not only providing natural medicine for our center, but also demonstrates to the community how to live in harmony with nature by preserving it.

Initially we wanted our guests and sponsors to have an opportunity to visit the projects. Today we are running the Maasai Lodge a truly cultural experience, and various levels of accommodations in Momela. All part of our charitable tourism project, creating employment for over 80 people. The generated income entirely goes to the charitable projects.
We truly hope to welcome you here one day and experience yourself what impact our organization has created in the last 10 years.

Thank you for your Interest in our work.
