Grant Writer Request #03102023C

Primary Purpose:
We are a start-up permaculture farm offering micro greens, flowers, and holistic wellness services. We are pursuing capital funding grants so that we can launch and scale multiple community-focused projects in the community.
Programming and Dollar Needs:
1) Homestead - 2 acre off-grid property featuring a small, brand new, modern home, multiple additional dwelling units, food forest, multiple gardens (perennial, medicinal/healing, annuals), an orchard, multiple greenhouses, and ultimately become a permaculture, Master Gardening, and holistic healing center. Certifications for women & minority owned business in process). We have a rough draft business plan already for this project. Approx budget needs: $125k.

2) Microgreens - sustainably grown, fresh and dried microgreens focusing on top local restaurants, wholesalers, Government contracts (certification for women-owned business in process). We plan to scale a business model based on an online grown-to-order “CSA”, delivery to local restaurants and suppliers, and market microgreen seasoning products. We also have a rough draft business plan already for this project. Approx Budget Needs: $30k

My partner has two permaculture design certifications, formerly taught at OSU, international traveler who’s helped with reforestation in South America, multiple successful businesses to her credit, and has a family who built a real estate empire. I’m an IT and music/film professional, seasoned entrepreneur, black man who shares the vision for a sustainable future.

Budgetary Programming Needs are to launch and scale these projects.
1) Faro Homestead involves additional land works, purchasing plants, trees, hiring contractors and designers, consulting with experts, equipment, purchasing dwellings & greenhouses, landscaping, etc. we have already invested in well water, solar, septic, grey water systems, and incorporating technology to enable efficient eco-friendly results. We have a master gardener who’s consulting as well. This will be a community resource providing natural medicines, fresh organic foods, education, and healing through reconnecting with nature.

2) Atlas Microgreens - we invested in a greenhouse, purchased our domain URL, logo design, and have grown successful samples that we’re preparing to take to market in the next few weeks. We need funds to build-out our website storefront, back office systems, purchase supplies (seeds, trays, sample supplies, marketing materials and services), hiring consultants, marketing, virtual staff.

We want to marry age-old wisdom, honoring indigenous peoples, sustainable living, and appropriate technology to help people everywhere live abundantly and thrive.

My partner and I are veteran entrepreneurs, but never had the pleasure of working with a grant writer. With these current projects and their potential positive impacts, we’re excited to partner with a team to help fundraise for something truly worthwhile for the local and global community
We have not previously received grant funds.
We have a copy of our previously written grant application(s).  I am accustomed to working with contractors, online marketplaces like upwork and fiverr, and we only believe in doing business with integrity
We have a fundraising packet.  We have very limited funds, but we understand that it takes money to make money. We’re happy to pay a reasonable fee because their help will more than repay that. However, we would hope that the grant writer would also feel some personal satisfaction and connection to the vision knowing that their efforts will be paid-forward for generations.
