Grant Writer Request #10072019A

Primary Purpose:
I'm a police officer with the City of Irving, TX and discovered the local high schools do not offer wood shop classes. I would like to start an after school program to enable students entering the workforce to receive training in order to make them more marketable as a tradesman.
Programming and Dollar Needs:
The program will be run Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. The schools do not offer courses to teach the wood working trade, only the local colleges have courses available. Not all students would be able to afford going to college to learn this trade. The program will consist of training students in wood working to include furniture, cabinets, built in organization spaces for closets, and home construction.

This course will be a positive influence and allow the police department to give back to the community and help our cities youth. The furniture would be sold and any profits would return to the budget to continue to build the program.

The department has space available but I would require start up funds to build work stations and tools. An estimated $9,000 to $10,000 would be required.
Project Description:
Provide your hourly rate for research and locating grants for: 10 hours per week for 4 weeks.   For a total of 40 hours.
The department will be responsible for paying the officers for their time and no reimbursement is required for the city employees.
Provide your hourly rate for crowdfunding mentoring for: 10 hours per week for 4 weeks.   For a total of 40 hours.
Additional funding from city donors and city members would go a long way in ensuring this program is community based.
