We deliver packages to each location, along with detailed manuals to get recipients connected and learning as soon as possible. Each kit comes with essentials tools to ensure the highest quality learning experience. To ensure the safety of our recipients, staff, and volunteers, we follow stringent guidelines, including sanitization and disinfectant measures, as well as wearing gloves and masks at the facilities and during deliveries. The contents of each package are also thoroughly sanitized and disinfected before being boxed up. Internet access is provided through AT&T or Comcast— activations are done by mailers—and ongoing technical assistance is provided by phone.
Programming and Dollar Needs:
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization is focusing its immediate attention towards making sure that Michigan households living in poverty have access to computers and the internet. We anticipate that this need will continue to increase due to rising unemployment, social distancing and stay-at-home orders, and the overall economic burden placed on our communities. If awarded, we will provide 40 low-income households with a free personal computer to keep as their own and internet access for up to one year. Recipients range from young children up to seniors. Those who receive a personal computer and internet will be able to connect to social and educational outlets during and after social distancing orders. Each will have the opportunity to explore and discover their full learning potential, increase their digital skills and critical thinking, and enhance their overall knowledge and cognitive development.
