Our professional medical group would like to submit a grant for support of a 1-day symposium on "Opioid Epidemic: Controversies and Creative Solutions" to be held at the Grand Hyatt in New York, NY on March 12, 2020. We is a professional group for medical toxicologists, physicians who treat poisoning and overdose. Many of our members are also boarded in Addiction Medicine. Our symposium will go beyond the basics and discuss big-picture approaches to the opioid epidemic. We want to address novel, cutting edge, and controversial approaches, including safe-injection sites, mobile buprenorphine induction, urban greening, and others. We expect more than 100 attendees, including medical toxicologists, addiction medicine physicians, emergency physicians, and other health professionals interested in learning more about the opioid epidemic.
