Our animal rescue seeks a grant researcher to help identify grant opportunities to fund our shelter operations.
Programming and Dollar Needs:
Ideally, we'd like private foundations who fund animal welfare causes. The more general the funding priorities, the better. We are not seeking foundations that specifically cater to animal shelters and animal welfare charities. These applications are far too cumbersome, rigorous and competitive.
The best kinds of grant opportunities for our organization come from foundations who may not even explicitly state that they fund animal welfare. Foundations who seek to fund a "community need" are ones we'd apply to making the argument that our community programs, such as low-cost spay and neuter for pets, and our pet food pantry, are the kinds of support we offer that could fit this bill.
If the foundations do seek to fund animal welfare, it is best when they are as general as possible.
